Have a great Summer break!

Textile Without Limits will not be meeting in August, but we will be back in September. The next three meetings will be:

Saturday 21st September – Block printing – we’ll start by investigating all the different materials that you can use to make printing blocks and Leah will bring along some acrylics and fabric medium so that we can print onto paper or cloth. It might help if you bring along a design source to inspire you - a photo or simple drawing or an object that has strong and interesting lines. You might like to start collecting interesting items that can be used to make marks.

Sunday 20th October – Preparing pieces for Shibori and other resist methods – Lis will get us started on Shibori and Leah will demonstrate / show samples of clamp resist. A lot of Shibori techniques require stitching your cloth so we won’t be dyeing on the day, but at the following meeting.

Saturday 16th November – Procion dyeing day – Shibori is often associated with Indigo dyeing but equally wonderful results can be achieved with Procion dyes (and you’re not restricted to blue!). Leah will bring along dyes, salt and soda so that you can dye your prepared pieces. There will be lots of time to dye non-shibori pieces as well.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the Summer and see you again in September!
